This artwork celebrates the cedar waxwing’s characteristic poise, portraying the bird in an upright stance that captures both its confidence and refined beauty.

The composition seeks to showcase the balance of its strong yet streamlined form, which gives the bird an almost statuesque presence.

Its raised crest and bold black mask combine to create an expression unlike that of any other songbird. Together, these striking features lend the bird an almost ‚super-hero’ presence, giving it a quiet confidence and unmistakable character that immediately draws the eye.

Unlike many brightly coloured songbirds, the waxwing reveals its beauty through subtlety rather than brilliance. Soft transitions between warm browns, cool greys, gentle yellows, and delicate peach tones create a remarkably harmonious palette that rewards close observation.

Against these understated colours, the glossy red droplets become even more striking, standing out as tiny jewels that complete this bird’s elegant appearance.
